Beginning Sounds Worksheets
First, check out these great Beginning Sounds Worksheets. Each picture is a simple 3-letter word. Practice saying the beginning syllable of each word, then cut and paste its matching first letter to its square. These two worksheets are great for building fine motor skills. Once all of the letters have been pasted, be sure to color in the pictures with markers or crayons!
These worksheets are great when working with a small group of 2-4 children. Be sure to talk about each word and it’s beginning sound. Have an alphabet chart handy for reference. The pictures in page one are: sun, owl, eye, pig, cow, log, fly, and hat. The pictures in page two are: dog, cat, bed, ant, rat, pawprint, mug, and fox.

Say the names of the pictures out loud together and practice saying the beginning syllable of each one. Use a Dot Dot marker to darken the circle with the correct beginning letter of the picture. Once completed, be sure to use markers or crayons to color in all the pictures!
