Celebrate a favorite little forest friend with this Free Squirrel Craft for Preschool! This adorable craft is perfect for welcoming the fall season or adding a hands-on activity to your Earth Day lesson plans. As little ones cut, paste, and create their own squirrel, they’ll build fine motor skills, strengthen hand-eye coordination, and spark conversations about nature, animals, and caring for our environment.

Cute Squirrel Craft

Materials Needed: paper plate, cardstock paper, free cutouts, watercolors, scissors, glue stick

Step 1: Print your squirrel cutouts onto cardstock paper. Next, use watercolors to fill in your cutouts. Feel free to use markers and crayons too. Print Squirrel Coloring Pages to keep the fun going!

Step 2: While your cutouts are drying, head to the paper plate. I used brown watercolor to fill in the plate. This is a fun way to fill in your plate that makes for easy clean-up. Check out some cool Earth Day Crafts to keep your nature theme going.

Step 3: Once your pieces are dry, use scissors to cut out your squirrel pieces. Next, use a glue stick to paste your pieces to the paper plate.

That’s it! Your squirrel craft is complete! Add your finishing touches, I added glitter and pink cheeks. Be sure to hang your beautiful squirrel somewhere that needs a bit of fun forest friend cheer!
