How Hollydog Began
Hollydog began during the pandemic, when preschool teacher Charise Leemis wanted to help her students keep learning at home. She asked her daughter, Amanda, to illustrate simple worksheets for take-home activity packets. Those first pages sparked an idea: why not share them with more families and teachers? Amanda created The Hollydog Blog, turning a classroom project into a growing collection of free preschool resources.
At the heart of it all is Hollydog! Yes, that’s her cute little face in the photo above. Hollydog was a real life lost and found puppy dog. Preschoolers loved the stories Charise would tell them about Hollydog’s shenanigans, and the curious little puppy inspired the whole character behind the site. Hollyog is a playful, sometimes nervous pup who finds courage with her friends beside her. She brings a familiar, friendly face to Amanda’s illustrations and reminds little ones that learning is an adventure we can enjoy together.
Hollydog has over 25,000 email subscribers and 23,000 downloads every month! We offer original artwork in the form of preschool printables, crafts, and sing-along videos!
Meet Amanda Leemis
Preschool Activity Expert, Educational Content Creator & Founder of The Hollydog Blog
Amanda is the founder and illustrator behind The Hollydog Blog. She combines her love for illustration with her experience working with children in South Africa, Vietnam, and right here in America to create playful preschool worksheets and activities.
A graduate of Indiana University, Amanda holds a degree in General Studies with minors in Dance and Religious Studies. Her artwork has been featured in exhibitions throughout New York City.
With a background in creative arts, international teaching, and educational content development, Amanda specializes in making early learning accessible, engaging, and enjoyable for families and educators. Amanda has developed hundreds of preschool resources, educational videos, and children’s activity books, including Hollydog’s Big Book of Fun. Through The Hollydog Blog, Amanda combines creativity, practical experience, and entrepreneurship to help parents and educators bring playful learning into everyday life. Side note: She LOVES her job!

Meet Charise Leemis

Charise is Amanda’s mom, an experienced preschool teacher, and the familiar face of Ms. Charise in Hollydog’s sing-along videos. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wheaton College and brings 15 years of experience working with toddlers and preschoolers at St. Agnes St. Dominic Academy in Memphis, TN.
Her classroom inspired the first Hollydog worksheets, created to help little ones keep learning at home during the pandemic. Today, she helps bring Hollydog to life through songs, storytelling, and encouragement. She is the prop manager for Hollydog’s youtube channel, plus Charise also leads Hollydog’s outreach efforts, putting together activity bags for children in shelters through Project Night Night.
