One of our favorite books for ages 2-3, “My Hollydog Rides in the Car” will capture the attention of your little ones! With one sentence per page, and a happy go lucky Hollydog, come along for an adventure on the road! Her best buddy unicorn and her ball can be found on each page! What does she see as she jumps out of the car as they are driving down the street?
Things I love about this book:
- Hollydog is such a wonderful character! In the first book, she is very timid and afraid of the thunderstorm, but in “My Hollydog Rides in the Car” she shows her adventurous side and goes on a journey in the car! Her face is so expressive and cute!
- “My Hollydog Rides in the Car” has a great lesson about safety. It can be really hard to keep little ones in their seatbelts in the car, and in this book we see why it is so important! Holly sees a squirrel outside the window on their drive, and she leaps out of the car to chase after it! The family then has to pull over and chase after her!
- The illustrations in this book are really fun and detailed. When it comes to ages 2-3, it is all about the conversation. There are so many questions to ask about each scene and lots to identify in each drawing! Also, at the end of the book, there is a page explaining that Holly’s ball and her unicorn doggie toy can be found on every single page! Go back and look through the book again!
- This book was written by a 2K teacher! Charise Leemis wrote the book to fill a need in her classroom. Several of the books available were just too difficult for age 2, so she decided to create her own story to help educate and keep the attention of the little ones. Way to go Ms. Charise! Be sure to check out the coloring book too!
